I recently had the pleasure of diving into the dreamy region of Florence and Tuscany when I visited for a wedding and it really is a beautiful area but it’s super spread out so here are some tips for your trip.
Florence
We flew into Florence because we heard such great things about it. Here are some of the highlights:
1. The Magnificent Duomo
Climb to the top of the iconic Florence Cathedral for a view that will leave you breathless. The city unfolds before you in a panorama of terracotta rooftops and architectural wonders.
2. Eat a Panini at I’Fratellini
Quite literally one of the best panini’s that I have ever had and one of the many delicious choices that Florence has to offer! Create your own panini at this little street takeaway and grab a seat on the curb to enjoy.
3. Uffizi Gallery
Step into a world of masterpieces as you explore the Uffizi Gallery. From Botticelli’s “The Birth of Venus” to da Vinci’s “Annunciation,” each painting tells a story of its own.
4. Ponte Vecchio
Walk across the historic Ponte Vecchio, where quaint shops offer everything from dazzling jewelry to local crafts. It’s a bridge that connects the past and present seamlessly.
Tuscany
After our time in Florence, we rented a car and headed out to the hills of Tuscany.
1. Chianti Region
Embark on a wine adventure through the Chianti region. Sip on exquisite wines and relish the beauty of vineyards that stretch as far as the eye can see.
2. San Gimignano
Behold the fairy tale town of San Gimignano, where medieval towers punctuate the skyline. Climb to the top for views that capture the essence of Tuscany.
3. Siena
Step into Siena’s Piazza del Campo, where history and culture converge. If you’re visiting in July or August, the Palio horse race is a must-see but be prepared for major crowds!
Final Thoughts
Florence and Tuscany are a symphony of art, history, and flavors that will capture your heart and leave you yearning for more. Whether you’re exploring the treasures of Florence or getting lost in the countryside charm of Tuscany, each moment is a canvas waiting to be painted with your memories. So, dust off your passport, pack your curiosity, and let the magic of Italy unfold before your eyes!
